Meanwhile, a long time later, Aili is taken in by the Scouts when Andvari discovers her in the woods and identifies her abilities. Sure, she can't use spells, but she can do many other amazing things. All she needs is some guidance and to learn control. Oh, and maybe the occasional lecture on the misuse of powers.
Through her adventures, she visits the various forests and wild places in her country, as she follows Andvari from Scout camp to Scout camp. Her world goes from the local area she grew up in to nearly the whole country, broadening her experiences and ideas about life. She confronts her own ideas and identity and encounters many different people as she travels.
By the time Aili meets her, she's an ancient woman with grey eyes and wild white hair. Ilia is a Master Herbalist. She's been around so long that nobody knows how old she really is. Nobody dares guess, and she's not telling.
She teaches Aili all about herbs and how to heal without magic, giving Aili a purpose without magic. Aili soon becomes her best herb collector, able to find the rare plants and harvest the best ingredients for Ilia's potions. Ilia's teaching allows Aili to find food in the forest easily. She'll never starve as she wanders around on adventures.
Of course, she has adventures of her own, and a long life of stories to tell. Ilia has seen and done so many things, and is the only person around who has ever seen the magical creatures of old that Aili has only read about.

Known as the "Girl without Magic" growing up, Aili was excluded from magic lessons and normal socializing with friends. She learned herbalism and how to survive in the forest, and spent most of her time with a couple of Mages who taught her to thrive, despite her handicap.
Aili has brown hair and green eyes, is short and athletic, and spends much of her time in the forests with Leya. Her abilities are unusual, so it takes an intelligent and free thinking mage to help her discover them.
Aili tends to wander the forests with her trusty pony, Leya. The two are nearly inseparable, with Aili only leaving her behind when things get too dangerous. They grew up together and Leya is her best friend.
